Maple Cinnamon French Toast Coffee Recipes For Breakfast, Brunch, And Beyond
French toast isn’t something you simply eat, is it? Instead, french toast is something you experience.
Think back to your childhood with me…
What are your earliest memories of enjoying a warm stack of french toast?
Did you enjoy this breakfast luxury on weekend mornings only, or was it a routine favorite?
Who’s there with you? Can you still smell the butter as it slowly melts, or the sweet maple syrup as it’s drizzled over the custard-coated bread?
Is the aroma of coffee wafting through the air?
Growing up, I can remember my mom making French toast in bulk. I’m pretty sure she’d go through at least two loaves of bread at a time for our entire family to enjoy French toast both on that particular weekend morning setting as well as for after-school snacks later in the coming week.
I was a picky eater as a child, so I’d scrounge through the stack looking for the least egg-coated slice I could find.
Then, I’d attempt to pour an extremely light layer of syrup over the slice, only to seemingly drown the piece every single time.
And, call me crazy, but I think I enjoyed the leftover pieces even better than the fresh, hot servings.
You see, my brothers and I eventually got creative in our after-school snack offerings and the simple treat we loved most was…wait for it…cold slices of french toast sprinkled with a tiny amount of sugar.
We’d roll up the sugar topped, cold toast for best enjoyment, thinking our concoction was quite the culinary classic.
Of course, as I make french toast for my children now, I’ve refined both my palate and skillset.
Our family favorite is to include pureed pumpkin or homemade apple butter in the french toast ‘batter,’ topping either with a few toasted pecans and only a slight drizzle of maple syrup.
What about you?
If you’re a french toast fan, what’s your favorite topping? Classic maple syrup, a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh fruit?
And, is there really any question as to whether or not coffee is the best beverage to enjoy with a plate of french toast?
Then, perhaps a better question to ask is: have you ever tried incorporating the flavors of french toast in your morning cup of coffee?
I prefer my french toast very cinnamon forward, and this spice is the perfect coffee companion, aside from maple syrup, that is.
In fact, these two flavors, cinnamon and maple, easily make themselves right at home in a coffee mug, swirling best amidst medium to darkly roasted brews.
Maybe that’s why our Maple Cinnamon French Toast Coffee is such a favorite of mine?
- In this selection, the cinnamon creates a creaminess that is faint, but noticeable, in the smooth medium-roasted coffee.
- And, the maple flavor slightly hints at a bit of vanilla as well, bringing a velvety smoothness alongside notes of rich, buttery, custard-like french toast.
With flavors like that, savoring a freshly brewed cup black, or cold brewed over ice, is incredibly delicious.
But, what I really love to do when taking my in-home coffee creations to the next level is to emphasize the oils and extracts in this particular flavored selection by adding a bit of real maple syrup and ground cinnamon, even vanilla, as I prepare my cup.
When doing this, the extracts used in making this flavored coffee move somewhat to the foreground, highlighting these breakfast/brunch tastes even more. Don’t worry, these natural add-ins won’t overpower the wonderful coffee flavor, but they will make those other notes pop.
Mmmm, pure maple syrup that isn’t just a bunch of empty calories like table sugar, instead gifting my body with multiple antioxidants and vitamins.
And, warm, earthy cinnamon that’s great for the health of your heart, can reduce inflammation, and aid in blood sugar control, what’s better than that…besides the incredible flavor and seemingly countless health benefits of coffee, that is!
All this delicious talk is making my mouth water. Morning Maple Madness
One word…delicious!
This creamy, foam topped, iced coffee tastes like a weekend morning straight from your childhood. You know, those lazy mornings where mom or dad made a stacked tower of french toast, the custard-like sweetness swirling with scents of maple syrup wafting through the air to act as your morning wake up call.
Then, as you’d emerge from your slumber and inch towards the kitchen, those sweet breakfast scents were met mid-air with the aroma of a pot of coffee brewing on the kitchen counter.
If you’re like me, you probably weren’t allowed to sample mom and dad’s morning brew in those days. But, now you can not only enjoy your own cup of joe, you can also savor each of these flavors in one mug: cinnamon, maple syrup, sweet French toast, and bold, smooth java. Again…delicious!
Ingredients (serves 2)
- 4 scoops ground Lifeboost Maple Cinnamon French Toast Coffee
- 2 tablespoons ground ceylon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
- 12 ounces water
- ¾ cup 2% milk
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Nutmeg and cinnamon, for garnish
- Ice
Instructions
A few notes: You’ll be brewing your coffee in this recipe with the addition of cinnamon and nutmeg. Personally, I have found that the pour over method works best here when starting with hot coffee, but drip coffee would work as well.
- Simply add the ground cinnamon and nutmeg to your filter, then add the coffee grounds and prepare.
- If you have a large enough drip brewer or pour over carafe (like a Chemex), you could make both servings at once. But, if you need to split these, simply use 6 ounces of water, 2 scoops of ground coffee, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, and ½ tablespoon of nutmeg per serving.
1. Once you’ve brewed your spice infused coffee, set it aside to cool as you make the foam topping.
2. Add milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, maple extract, and vanilla to a large glass or mason jar. Using a hand frother, froth until combined (and foamy).
3. Add ice to two tall glasses. Pour coffee over ice in each glass, then top with maple cold foam. Dust with nutmeg and cinnamon if desired, and enjoy!

Instead of slaving away in the kitchen to make an elaborate brunch complete with bacon, french toast, fresh fruit, and mimosas, sometimes you simply want to enjoy those french toast flavors in minutes…minus all the clean up.
And, this latte allows you to do just that!
Of course, there’s no bacon or mimosas included in this recipe, but hey, nobody’s perfect, right?

- 1 tablespoon French toast syrup (see recipe below)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- ⅔ cup oat milk
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Cinnamon, for topping
Ingredients
- Brew coffee into your favorite mug, and set aside.
- Add milk, french toast syrup, and maple syrup to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring continually until mixture is combined and warmed through.
- Pour heated milk mixture into your brewed coffee and stir slightly to combine.
- Top with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon, if desired. Enjoy!
Homemade French Toast Syrup
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Add water and brown sugar to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to make sure the sugar fully dissolves.
Once boiling, turn the heat to medium, and allow the mixture to boil for approximately 4 minutes.
Remove from heat and add the cinnamon and vanilla, stirring to combine.
Allow the mixture to cool for 15-20 minutes before transferring to a sealed glass bottle for storage. (remove cinnamon sticks prior to transfer).
