Four Fabulous Ways To Enjoy Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee

7 min read AUG 21, 2023

Here in the US, we’re primarily accustomed to experiencing chai spices in blends of black tea.

These spices most commonly include cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and black peppercorns, and when infused into black tea, we call this chai tea.

In Hindi, chai doesn’t refer to a flavored tea, but tea itself, as the addition of the above mentioned spices is simply a classic way of preparing this leaf dependent (as opposed to bean) brew. You may have heard this called masala chai as well.

Chai teas have been enjoyed for hundreds, even thousands of years, but recently many have appreciated the addition of these spices in another brew…coffee!

Throughout the early 1900’s when the price of tea increased, many people found it necessary to cut back on the amount of tea they’d use in a typical cup, and they’d mask this weakness in flavor with the addition of chai spices, sugar, and milk.

With coffee, no enhancement is needed due to weakness as this brew is typically more strong than tea. So, the combination of coffee and chai spices, instead, results in a blend that’s not only warm, spicy, and delicious, it also boasts powerful benefits to your health.

Coffee itself boasts powerful health benefits due to its antioxidant and caffeine components, but the addition of sweet, warming spices which contain multiple antioxidants and flavonoids combine with those bean benefits to aid in disease prevention, boost immune function and response, improve the health of your heart, and much more.

Many coffeehouses and cafes today serve multiple chai tea options, and some are boarding the chai coffee train, but why wait for cafes to incorporate this trend when you can make this spicy, warm, decadent, and powerfully healthy brew in your own home?!

Each of the 4 recipes below not only incorporate classic chai spices, they also utilize our new, incredibly smooth and tasty Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee.

I must warn you though, there’s a few of these that I can’t stop making. Enjoy!

1- Chai Coffea

You’ll be enjoying both coffee and tea in this warm, spicy, and incredibly delicious brew.

If you’re not a fan of tea, I would still urge you to give this a chance, as personally, I don’t feel like the tea is all that noticeable.

And, the addition of MCT and coconut oils can help to improve mental clarity, give you a boost of energy, improve gut health and immune responses, as well as fight inflammation.

In other words, flavor and aroma aren’t the only wins with this brew!

Note: You can prepare this brew in a drip coffee maker, but using a French press or pour over method here works great as well since you’ll be adding both chai tea and individual spices to your coffee grounds prior to brewing.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons ground Lifeboost Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee
  • 10 ounces water
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ceylon cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon C8 MCT oil
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup (or raw honey, your choice)

Instructions

For a drip brewer: If using a drip coffee maker, add 10 ounces of water to the tank, then add ground coffee, the contents of one (single serving) bag of chai tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and sea salt to the filter in the brewing basket. Brew as you normally would.

For a pour over: If you’re brewing using the pour over method, simply add ground coffee, the contents of one (single serving) bag of chai tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and sea salt to your filter, then prepare as normal with 10 ounces of hot water.

For a french press: If preparing using a french press, be sure to use a coarse grind for your coffee, then add the ground coffee, contents of one (single serving) bag of chai tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and sea salt to the bottom of the press. Pour in 10 ounces of hot water, and allow the mixture to steep, following the process you normally would from here forward when preparing a cup of coffee in your french press.

  • Once you’ve prepared your coffee via your preferred brewing method, add the coffee, vanilla, MCT oil, coconut oil, and maple syrup to a blender and blend until creamy and frothy.
  • Pour frothy, spicy mixture into your favorite mug, and enjoy!

2- Falling For Chai

I realize fall isn’t in full swing yet, with many of us still feeling the relentless heat of summer, but if you’re looking for a sneak peak of America’s favorite season, this cool chai treat which incorporates a bit of pumpkin is the perfect, tasty teaser for things to come.

Of course, you can make this all throughout the fall season as well, hot or iced.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee
  • ½ cup heavy cream, divided
  • 4 teaspoons pure maple syrup, divided
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ceylon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ice

Instructions

  • Add coffee, ¼ cup heavy cream, 2 teaspoons maple syrup, and 1 ½ tablespoons pumpkin puree to a blender and blend until mixture is fully combined.
  • Add ice to a glass, then pour blended mixture over the ice.
  • Add heavy ¼ cup heavy cream, 2 teaspoons maple syrup, ½ tablespoon pumpkin puree, and cinnamon to an electric frother and froth on the cold setting.
  • Pour frothed mixture over coffee in your glass, then dust the top with ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or allspice for a greater chai flavor), and enjoy!

**If you’d like to enjoy this brew hot, simply brew your coffee fresh, then follow the remaining instructions, minus the addition of ice. You’ll also want to froth your creamy topping in your electric frother on the heated setting.

3- Chilly Chai

Who says warm chai spices have to be enjoyed hot? This chiller is cold and doubly spiced as you’ll enjoy classic chai spices infused into this flavored coffee selection as well as added cinnamon and allspice to make this drink a bit extra.

If you’re a big fan of chai spices, while this isn’t listed in the recipe, I’d also recommend dusting a little extra allspice on top of the whipped cream for added flare and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee
  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey or pure maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ceylon cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼-½ cup ice cubes
  • Whipped cream, optional for topping

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour into a tall glass, top with whipped cream, and enjoy!

*If you’d like your brew to be a bit stronger, I personally enjoy making coffee ice cubes to use here instead of regular ice cubes. To do this, simply make a little extra cold brew, then use it to fill an ice cube tray. Carefully place the filled tray into the freezer, and freeze overnight or roughly 4 hours until the cubes are set/frozen and ready to use in your chilly chai.

4- Chai Martini

An espresso martini is a classic coffee cocktail that’s both delicious and sophisticated. Here, you’ll be enjoying those classic flavors with a twist.

The warm chai spices in both our Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee and the chai tea you’ll use here to make a delicious honey syrup mix effortlessly with vodka and coffee liqueur to bring you a warmer, slightly sweeter, rich, and creamy cocktail that’s perfect for a simple, yet delicious, upgrade on this classic.

I like to think of it as a warm and spicy nightcap with subtle hints of fall enjoyed through both aroma and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces strongly brewed Lifeboost Vanilla Chai Latte Coffee
  • 1-2 tablespoons chai honey syrup (see recipe below)
  • 1 ½ ounces vodka
  • 1 ½ ounces Kahlua (see recipe below for a homemade option)
  • 1 ounce canned coconut milk
  • Ice
  • Grated nutmeg, optional for topping

Instructions

  • Brew coffee, then set aside to cool completely.
  • Place a martini glass into the freezer, allowing it to frost before using.
  • Once the coffee has cooled, add coffee, chai syrup, vodka, Kahlua, coconut milk, and ice to a cocktail shaker.
  • Shake vigorously for roughly one minute or until frost starts to form on the outside of the shaker. This will help to achieve a beautiful, thin foam to rest atop your finished martini.
  • Pour cocktail into a frosted martini glass, then lightly dust with grated (or ground) nutmeg. Enjoy!

Chai Honey Syrup

  • ½ cup raw honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 4 bags chai tea
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Add water to a small saucepan and heat over medium high heat until boiling. Remove from heat, then add chai tea bags, cover, and allow to steep for approximately 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags. Add honey to the liquid, stirring to combine. Return the mixture to medium-high heat until boiling. Allow the mixture to boil for roughly 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla, then allow the mixture to cool completely. Add to an airtight container, and refrigerate until needed.

Homemade Kahlua

  • 2 ½ cups strong, freshly brewed Lifeboost Medium Roast Coffee
  • 4 cups cane sugar
  • 2 ¼ cups aged rum
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Stir sugar and hot coffee together until dissolved. Let cool completely, then add rum and vanilla. Store in an airtight container.
