Enjoy A Symphony Of Natural Sweetness With Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee

10 min read JAN 18, 2024

Juicy ripe strawberries, silky smooth and decadently rich chocolate, and bold, delicious medium roast coffee. Is there anything more divine?

This combination is truly an unparalleled match, a culinary masterpiece!

Why?

Well, it’s not just the fanciful flavors that make this combo so incredibly tasty…science actually plays a role in this marriage as well.

Many varieties of cocoa beans, the main ingredient in chocolate, are quite similar to coffee as they can take on the flavor profile of the region where they are grown.

Also like coffee, many cocoa beans are known to have a fruity flavor profile.

So, when you combine chocolate with juicy, sweet, and slightly tart fruits like strawberries, this strengthens the fruity notes in the chocolate, and in the end, the best flavors in both components are detected and enjoyed.

In the case of coffee, a light roast can allow you to savor the flavor notes of its growing region more prominently, whereas darker roasts take on more caramelized tastes the longer they are roasted.

In our Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee, we use a medium roast as a base. And, this means those fruity, floral flavors of the growing region, as well as the rich, slightly caramelized sweetness achieved through longer roasting times, meet in the middle.

The result?

A perfectly balanced palette where the combined, rich flavors of chocolate and strawberry can be effortlessly and decadently painted to produce a mouthwatering masterpiece, a true symphony of sweetness without the added calories.

And, while we love this brew black or simply with a splash of heavy cream and a small touch of sweetness, there’s so many other ways to appreciate this decadently delicious java.

So, we hope you enjoy each of the recipes below highlighting this fabulous brew and each of the flavors within it!

5 Decadently Delicious Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee Recipes

1- Blended Berry Bliss

Chocolate covered strawberries are one of my favorite desserts. I could truly skip the cakes, cookies, pies, and brownies and opt for silky smooth chocolate drenched pieces of fruit any time.

So, just the thought of transforming this decadent treat into a sippable dessert, complete with ice cream, coffee, and those classic chocolatey, sweet berries is right up my alley.

I suppose I should warn you, you’ll have to work for this treat as you’ll be crafting your own berry puree, mocha syrup, and vanilla cream, but trust me when I say those efforts won’t be in vain.

And, if you’re like me, you’ll be happy to put in the extra effort, knowing the ingredient list is short and you can control each selection.

In other words, no artificial ingredients here, just pure decadent deliciousness!

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee
  • ½ -¾ cup vanilla ice cream (if you like your blended treats to be thick, opt for ¾ cup, otherwise, go with ½ cup)
  • ¾ cup strawberry puree, divided, see recipe below
  • 1 batch of homemade vanilla sweet cream, see recipe below
  • 2 tablespoons mocha syrup, divided, recipe below
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Ice (approximately 1 cup)

Instructions

  • Add cold brew, ice cream, ½ cup strawberry puree, vanilla sweet cream, 1 tablespoon mocha syrup, and ice to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Drizzle roughly ½ tablespoon of mocha syrup along the inside of a tall glass.
  • Add ¼ cup of strawberry puree to the bottom of the glass.
  • Pour blended mixture into the prepared glass.
  • Top with whipped cream and a drizzle (remaining ½ tablespoon) of mocha sauce, and enjoy!

Homemade Strawberry Puree

  • 18-20 large, fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until very smooth. Transfer to a small bowl until ready to use.

Homemade Vanilla Sweet Cream

¾ cup 2% milk (or milk of your choice)
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons vanilla simple syrup

Make vanilla simple syrup ahead of time by combining ½ cup water and ½ cup sugar in a small saucepan, heating over medium heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

For the vanilla sweet cream, add milk, heavy cream, and vanilla syrup in a mason jar and shake to combine.

Homemade Mocha Syrup

1 cup cane sugar
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ cup water
⅛ teaspoon salt

Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and whisk to combine. Heat over medium to medium-high heat, stirring frequently, just until the mixture begins to boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer for approximately 15 minutes, giving it time to thicken.

Once thickened, transfer the mocha syrup to a glass jar, and allow it to cool completely in the refrigerator. The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools.

2- Lover’s Lane Latte

Each year on Valentine’s Day I make a trip to Old Kentucky Chocolates in Lexington, Kentucky to get my kids some of the best chocolate covered strawberries I’ve ever had.

Of course, I sneak a few decadent berries for myself as well, and honestly, I never dreamed anything could taste as divine as those sinfully sweet chocolate covered gems, until I tried this chocolate covered strawberry latte!

A pop of tart, sweet, juicy strawberry flavor bathed in dreamy milk chocolate swirling in smooth, rich, and bold coffee, ah my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Thankfully, unlike the strawberries from Old Kentucky Chocolates, which only appear mid February, you can enjoy this latte any day, any time…all the time.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces strongly brewed Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee
  • ⅓ cup milk of your choice
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry syrup, see recipe below
  • 1 ½ tablespoons chocolate syrup, see recipe below
  • Whipped cream, optional for topping

Instructions

  • Add milk, strawberry syrup, and chocolate syrup to a small saucepan and heat just until warm.
  • Pour milk mixture into a large mug, then top with freshly brewed coffee.
  • Top with whipped cream and an extra drizzle of chocolate syrup, if desired. Enjoy!

Homemade Strawberry Syrup

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen and thawed)

If using fresh strawberries, remove stems and cut in half.
Add water and sugar to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Add strawberries and simmer on low for roughly 10-12 minutes. (I like my syrup to be very rich, so sometimes I’ll allow this to simmer closer to 15 minutes or a little more.)

Remove from heat, and allow the syrup to cool completely. Once cooled, strain the syrup into a glass jar. You can store this in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Homemade Chocolate Syrup

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Add maple syrup and cocoa powder to a small bowl and whisk until fully combined. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

*Personally, I love the strawberry flavors here, so I drizzle my whipped cream with both strawberry syrup and chocolate syrup.

*If you really want your latte to be extra, you can make your own chocolate whipped cream to use as a topping in place of regular whipped cream. To do so, simply add ¼ cup of organic heavy whipping cream and 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup to a chilled bowl and mix with a hand mixer until soft peaks form. Then, add a dollop or two to top your latte. Two words…so good!

3- Simply, Sinfully Strawberry

If you sampled either of the above recipes, you can reuse those syrups once more to give this delicious, warm, sweet, and simple treat a try.

Here, you’ll add velvety smooth chocolate flavors to your brew, then sip this confection through a layer of beautiful and delicious strawberry whipped cream.

I wish I could tell you this one was my favorite of the recipes we’re sharing here today, but truly, I just can’t decide…they’re all just that good!

As-is, this doesn’t include milk, however, if you’d like to add a little creaminess, I’d recommend including ¼ cup or so of your preferred milk selection.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces freshly brewed Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, see recipe below
  • ¼ cup organic heavy whipping cream
  • 2-3 tablespoons strawberry puree, see recipe below

Instructions

  • Add heavy whipping cream and strawberry puree to a chilled bowl and mix with a hand mixer until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  • Add freshly brewed coffee to your favorite mug, then stir in chocolate syrup.
  • Top with a few spoonfuls of strawberry whipped cream, and enjoy!

Homemade Chocolate Syrup

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Add maple syrup and cocoa powder to a small bowl and whisk until fully combined. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Homemade Strawberry Puree

  • 18-20 large, fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until very smooth. Transfer to a small bowl until ready to use.

4- Iced Berry Mocha

For a chilly treat that’s heavy on flavor but light on sugar, give this one a try!

You’ll include a touch of natural sweetness and flavor by using a tablespoon of homemade chocolate syrup in some delicious cold foam to top your brew. Then you’ll simply use the pure, organic sweetness of ripe strawberries muddled in the bottom of your glass to take our beloved Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee to new heights.

I love enjoying this in the winter for a special treat, then when the orchard a few miles from my house opens up their u-pick strawberry sessions in the summer months, I happily enjoy this one on repeat!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee
  • 2-3 fresh, ripe strawberries, hulled
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, see recipe below
  • ¼ heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons 2% milk
  • ice

Instructions

  • Add strawberries to the bottom of a tall glass. Using a fork, pierce and mash the berries in the bottom of the glass.
  • Add ice to the glass (over the mashed berries).
  • Pour cold brew over the ice and mashed berries, then set aside and allow these flavors to combine as you prepare the chocolate cold foam.
  • Add heavy cream, milk, and chocolate syrup to an electric frother and froth on the cold setting. *If you do not have an electric frother, you can add the ingredients to a glass and froth with a handheld frother.
  • Top the strawberry infused cold brew with a desired amount of chocolate cold foam, and enjoy!

Homemade Chocolate Syrup

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Add maple syrup and cocoa powder to a small bowl and whisk until fully combined. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

5- The Tipsy Truffle

If you’re looking for a tasty, sweet cocktail, look no further.

Tart and sweet strawberry syrup, rich and creamy chocolate sauce, Bailey’s, vodka, chocolate liqueur, and of course, coffee…these combine effortlessly to create a cocktail you can use to wow party guests, enjoy alone, or sip with your sweetheart.

*If you don’t mind a cocktail that’s a bit more thick, you can use the berry puree from the first recipe in place of the strawberry syrup listed here. Personally, I think the puree gives the cocktail a slightly more tart and authentic flavor whereas the syrup is sweeter.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Chocolate Covered Strawberry Coffee
  • 1 ounce strawberry syrup, see recipe below
  • 1 ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce chocolate liqueur
  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Chocolate sauce, for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Add ice, cold brew, Bailey’s, vodka, and chocolate liqueur to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until fully combined.
  • Strain over ice in a glass.
  • Drizzle strawberry syrup over the cocktail. You can stir this in if you’d like, or leave it as-is and let it settle naturally.
  • Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce, if desired. Enjoy!

Homemade Strawberry Syrup

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh, or frozen and thawed)

If using fresh strawberries, remove stems and cut in half.

Add water and sugar to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Add strawberries and simmer on low for roughly 10-12 minutes. (I like my syrup to be very rich, so sometimes I’ll allow this to simmer closer to 15 minutes or more.)

Remove from heat, and allow the syrup to cool completely.

Once cooled, strain the syrup into a glass jar. You can store this in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
