What Is a Cocoa Cloud Macchiato?
A cocoa cloud macchiato is a decadent combo of chocolate and coffee that goes beyond the usual mocha drink.
It can be made either hot or iced and is served to look like an actual cloud. The creamy cloud foam is encompassed with cascading espresso before a lush vanilla syrup and a cocoa drizzle gets stirred in.
When you take your first sip, your lips touch the cloud-like foam, and then the rich and velvety coffee mix comes through the foam, and the two complement each other.
Ingredients
- Milk (You can use 2%)
- Cloud powder (egg white powder)
- Brewed espresso
- Toffee nut syrup
- Mocha sauce
- Caramel sauce
How to Make Cloud Powder
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon egg white powder*
- 3 tablespoons of water*
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- a small pinch of fine sea salt
Sugar, Arabic Gum, Egg White Powder, Rice Protein, Citric Acid, Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, and Xanthan Gum are usually used to make the cloud powder.
In this recipe, however, we're making a basic meringue since it’s simpler to create at home. Combine egg whites, sugar, and a touch of salt.
This recipe calls for egg white powder in place of eggs. Egg white powder is made from pasteurized dried egg whites, making it suitable for use in non-baking recipes.
Method
To make the cloud, combine water and egg white powder in a mixing bowl and whisk until frothy. After that, gradually add the powdered sugar and whisk until stiff/firm peaks form.
The peaks on the tip of the whisk will keep their shape when the cloud is ready. Whipping takes around five minutes, but it will take a few minutes longer if you do it by hand.
If you don't have an electric whisk, don't worry, you can whip it by hand. It will, however, take longer and your arms may get quite sore.

Make The Espresso
Brew 3 ounces of espresso in your espresso machine. If you don't have an espresso machine, use your favorite brewing method to make extra strong coffee.
Using a flavored coffee such as Lifeboost’s caramel macchiato coffee is a great way to get that perfect pairing of sweet caramel with a hint of vanilla.
If you have a sensitive stomach and suffer from stomach pain when drinking strong coffee, then we recommend a low-acid coffee or using ways to reduce the acid in your coffee.
Make the Cocoa Cloud Macchiato
Fill a glass or a cup with the brewed coffee, toffee nut syrup, and milk. Use three ounces of espresso and two pumps of toffee nut syrup to flavor a 24 oz cocoa cloud macchiato.
Add your caramel and mocha drizzle either into the mixture, or drizzled on top, depending on your preference. Mix the ingredients, and top it off with the egg white cloud.
What Is the Difference Between a Cocoa Cloud Macchiato and an Espresso Macchiato?
You get different types of macchiato. Some are more basic than others, and some are flavored.
Types of macchiatos include cinnamon cloud macchiato, apple crisp macchiato and creme brulee macchiato.
What is an espresso macchiato? Espresso macchiato is a single or double espresso served in a tiny cup with a dollop of warm, foamed milk.
Caffe macchiato is the Italian name for it. You'll probably appreciate an espresso macchiato if you prefer your espresso to take command of the flavor of your drink.
A cocoa cloud macchiato is also made from espresso, however, it comes with a creative twist, and has more flavor. It is made with flavored syrups such as toffee nut syrup, caramel or vanilla syrup, and mocha sauce.
The drink is topped off with a cloud-looking mixture that is creamy and frothy. This is what gives it its name.
A cocoa cloud macchiato can also be served either hot or iced.
